Story

“I believe that there is one story in the world, and only one. . . . Humans are caught—in their lives, in their thoughts, in their hungers and ambitions, in their avarice and cruelty, and in their kindness and generosity too—in a net of good and evil. . . . There is no other story. A man, after he has brushed off the dust and chips of his life, will have left only the hard, clean questions: Was it good or was it evil? Have I done well—or ill?”-John Steinbeck

Stormy Weather

A God who doesn’t love is not a boon to us, He would be our total annihilation! But Jesus, claimed to be God, and then loved us in a way no one had seen before. He showed us that God is love and opened a channel to Him as our Daddy (Abba) that all Hell, including our sin, could never close.

Thorny Grace

I can’t shake the truth of who I have been and the old desires still dwell deeply within, yet I am called to be something new, a new creation, living out a call that God has given me that puts me directly in danger of catastrophic, spiritual failure. How do we live there? Grace.

The Center of The Universe

This is when I start trying to figure out where I left God. Which is silly because it makes Him sound like a set of keys or a debit card. (Now where did I put that God?). If I’m the center of the universe then God is my Personal Jesus Christ, my Genie in a Lamp, my Private Dancer…. He does, what I want when I want Him, too. Right?

Jealous

He loves us with an immense and powerful love, huge and stormy, with rolling thunder and flashing lightning and torrents of falling grace. He loves us like an ocean that always breaks against our shores and, tide after tide, seeks to draw us back into Himself. He loves us like True North loves a magnet, turning our attention always towards Him.

Creator’s Heart, Part 2

Now, to love, is an art. To look deeply into each person we meet and see the form of greatness that lies within requires an artist’s eye. To be the implement that helps to bring out that form requires an artist’s touch. To blend all of the themes of a life into symphony requires an artist’s ear.
