If God is near and loves us and desires to set us free from the oppression and tyranny of religion, commercialism, addiction, our own stupidity, a non-exhaustive list which is the rest of Jesus teaching, then His presence should affect how we live our life.
Break your bonds, people of God. Return to your churches and light the fires of love. Bring your peacemaking war against the sleepy darkness of Sundays forgotten celebration.
We are to make our spouse a better person.
We love our Springs and Summers but don’t love the dying of Autumn and the death of Winter, yet we all face them in repeated circles of death and regeneration. The trick is to remain centered, at peace, within all of the changes; and to keep moving forward, alive, productive within those movements.
He cries for you when you constantly cut yourself with old knives of broken memories. He hurts for you when you go back to your drug of choice again and again seeking solace. He is dying to see you free.
This is when I start trying to figure out where I left God. Which is silly because it makes Him sound like a set of keys or a debit card. (Now where did I put that God?). If I’m the center of the universe then God is my Personal Jesus Christ, my Genie in a Lamp, my Private Dancer…. He does, what I want when I want Him, too. Right?
